Wirtschaft

Namibias Wirtschaft ist durch den Bergbau (Diamanten und Uran), Viehzucht und Fischerei geprägt. Doch der Tourismus ist eine wachsende Einnahmequelle. Namibia ist für afrikanische Verhältnisse ein relativ wohlhabendes Land, obwohl Knappheiten gelegentlich auftreten, insbesondere in Zeiten extremer Trockenheit.

Das Bruttoinlandsprodukt ist das Doppelte des Durchschnitts für alle afrikanischen Länder. Über 80% der Lebensmittel und Fabrikwaren müssen importiert werden, hauptsächlich von Süd- Afrika. Das Jahresdurchschnittseinkommen der Hauptstadt liegt bei etwa US$ 2.000
