Economía

La economía de Namibia es impulsada mayormente por la minería (diamantes y uranio), la ganadería y la pesca. El turismo se está convirtiendo en una importante fuente de ingreso también. Según los estándares africanos, Namibia es un país próspero, aunque algunas veces sufre periodos de escasez, especialmente en tiempos de sequía. El PIB es dos veces el promedio en África. Más de un 80% de la comida y otros bienes procesados, debe ser importado, principalmente de Sudáfrica. El ingreso per capita promedio anual es de aproximadamente US$ 2000 (Fuente: 1999).
